About Michigan LSE Funds

Michigan Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) have been successful in attracting Large Special Events (LSE) in the past, but the mission has become more difficult. CVBs face the predicament of needing to promise to support increasing levels of future operating expenses in order to be viable in host community selection processes, yet no formal funding source exists. Operating budgets are already thin in order to undertake normal promotional and tourist information activities.

To begin to address the hosting costs challenge, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has funded a program to be administrated by the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB). A limited amount of dollars will be available to assist CVBs in the financing of future event operating costs. Commitments can be made now in order to be chosen as host communities for future LSEs.
